Community Streets Event Inspires Grand Junction to Be More Active
The 2nd Annual Community Streets Event returns to Grand Junction on October 20, inspiring residents to be healthier and more active.
The chances are you have never even heard of Community Streets, but, if you can walk, run, skate, bike, or otherwise move, this event is for you.
Listen to this. According to LifeSpanFitness.com, 20% of deaths of people age 35 and older are attributed to a lack of physical activity. Some 300,000 deaths occur annually due to inactivity and poor eating habits.
Community Streets, presented by Downtown Grand Junction, is all about bringing people together and encouraging them to be more active and more physical in their everyday lives. On average, Americans spend 11 hours a day sitting, and it's killing us. We need to get out more, and this event can help get us motivated.
It's going to be a fun time from 10 am- 3 pm along 10th Street from North Avenue to Main Street. The food trucks will be out, there will be entertainment, giveaways, a bike rodeo, ice cream and family activities.
Fall is here and it can be a wonderful time in western Colorado, where weather typically stays pretty nice through the month of October. This is a great opportunity to get out and be active with your family before the weather turns cold and stays cold.
Come on out and join the fun. Ride your bike, push your stroller, lace up your walking shoes, or hop on your skateboard and be a part of Community Streets. It really is a great family event and it might just inspire you to be more active - for your health's sake.
