Female Entrepreneurs in the U.S.

You may be rolling your eyes thinking "no big deal!"

Uhmm, yes big deal!

For years, women struggled to gain venture capital funding to build their own businesses. While the numbers have been improving over recent years, COVID-19 threatened that progress.

Despite the setbacks from the pandemic, women kept pushing!

I know, it's what we do right?

Women-led Startup Data Factors

In order to figure out which states did the best versus which did the worst when it came to women-led startups, these 5 factors were looked at:

  • Total venture capital in the past five years invested into women-led startups
  • Percent of employer firms led by women
  • Percent of employees at women-led firms
  • Percent of women self-employed in their own business
  • Average income of women self-employed in their own business

Colorado Remains On Top

Last year, Colorado took home the number 1 spot for being the best state for women-led startups, and this year is no different.

In addition, Colorado is actually the only state to appear in the top 10 for all five gender-specific metrics.

Another amazing feat?  2.37% of all women in Colorado are self-employed in their own incorporated business, only ranking 2nd behind Montana.

Way to go Colorado! Let's keep pushing forward and show the rest of the U.S. how it's done.

Women in Colorado, don't be afraid to go after what you want, opportunities are out there!
