There are plenty of beautiful drives in Colorado to check out the fall colors, and with autumn approaching now is the time to get out and check out some of mother nature's beauty.

Independence Pass is located between Aspen and Twin Lakes Colorado, and because of its location over the Continental Divide, it is a fairly difficult pass to drive over. In fact, Independence Pass is so treacherous that it is closed from October through May each year.

However, although it's only open less than half of the year, the pass is full of beautiful Aspen trees, trails, and mountains, including Colorado's highest, Mount Elbert.
