The first chart hit for Cat Stevens came with 1971's Wild World. That was followed up with Moon Shadow and the top 10 hits Peace Train and Morning Has Broken. But, way before the hits came I Love My Dog  which was the very first  song released by Stevens on October 1, 1966. Turned out, the song wasn't a huge hit. In fact, it wasn't a hit at all, but it paved the way for the success that was to follow. You would probably have to be a real Cat Stevens fan to know this song, but you only have to be a dog lover to appreciate it's sentiment. Of course, your significant other may not appreciate it.  And since this is National Adopt A Shelter  Dog month, it's even more appropriate to share this song.

I LOVE MY DOG by Cat Stevens

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he'll get

So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All the pay I need comes shining through his eyes
I don't need no cold water to make me realize that

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...
I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...
