Arlo Guthrie’s Wife of 43 Years Jackie Dies of Cancer

Jackie Guthrie, wife of legendary Folk singer and songwriter Arlo Guthrie, has died of cancer at the age of 68.

According to Guthrie's record label, Jackie died as a result of inoperable cancer at their home in Florida last Sunday.
Guthrie posted on Facebook stating his relationship with his wife was “a very great love.” Guthrie said:

We didn’t always like each other. From time to time there were moments when we’d have our bags packed by the door. But, there was this great love that we shared from the moment we met — a recognition — It’s YOU! And we would always return to it year after year, decade after decade and I believe life after lifetime.

Jackie, originally from Salt Lake City, met Arlo in 1968 while working as a cashier at the Troubadour, the Folk music epicenter in Hollywood.
