For the last decade, silver was the world’s favorite car color – “was” being the operative word here. But not anymore, because there’s a new favorite car color in town.

In an Associated Press story, PPG Industries (the leading supplier of automotive paints) reported that 25 percent of the vehicles it supplied in the 2013 model year were white, which is up 3 percent from the previous year.

Silver, on the other hand, tied with black for second place with 18 percent each.

The Associated Press reports that a PPG Industries team determine color trends by watching fashion, architectural paint colors, and other predictors.
