Billboard has released its list of the Greatest of All-Time Hot 100 Singles, and thought the Beatles aren't #1 they did but two songs in the top 100, including one hit single in the top 10.

These aren't the greatest songs of all time, although there are some great songs on the list. This is not anyone's opinion, and it's not about anyone's favorite songs. These are the songs that performed the best on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart  using a point system based on the number of weeks a song spent on the charts as well as how long it stayed in the #1 position.

The rankings go back to 1958 when the Billboard Hot 100 Chart was established, and so we see quite a diversity of artists. Coming it at #1, is Chubby Checker's classic "The Twist."

Some notables in the top 100 include Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night" at #17;the Bee Gees at #23, #39, and #56 with "How Deep is Your Love", "Night Fever" and "Stayin' Alive"; Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" at #24; Wings' "Silly Love Songs" at  #37; Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" at #40; and the Beatles at #45 with "I Wanna Hold Your Hand."

"American Pie" did not make the top 100, but you will find the Monkees at #59 with I'm a Believer"; the J.Geils Band's "Centerfold" at #63; Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "I Love Rock and Roll" at #68; the 5th Dimension's "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" at # 70; the Archies' "Sugar, Sugar" at #78; Marvin Gaye's "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" at #81; Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" at #87; Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" at #88; and John Cougar's "Hurts So Good" at #98.
