Western Slope Town Gets Named ‘A Hallmark Movie Town’
This Western Slope town was just named 'a Hallmark Movie town.' It's a super festive town with some of the best views around, the Hallmark movie town is Durango.
Most Hallmark movies feature some small, adorable town where the main characters fall in love with someone and/or the spirit of Christmas. The Washington Post has created a list of towns all across America that really depict that Hallmark movie vibe.
The list has five different towns on there, including a town right here on the Western Slope:
- Leavenworth, Washington
- Durango, Colorado
- Jackson, Wyoming
- Middleburg, Virginia
- North Pole, Alaska
Durango has the views, the Christmas spirit, and your shot to fall in love -- Hallmark move style. According to the Washington Post, this is what Durango is like:
In the background: the San Juan Mountains under a blanket of snow. In the foreground: cozy locals bundled up in lounge chairs around fire pits enjoying the apres-ski scene.
I think this would be the meet-cute for a Hallmark movie. I imagine that a Hallmark movie set in Durango would be something like this:
'Apres-Ski is For We' (Or some other cheesy title about skiing and falling in love)
Olivia is a top executive at a busy company in the big city of Baltimore. Her sister convinces her to finally take a break and go on the annual family Christmas trip. This year, the family went to Durango. As she tries to resist the charm of the town and even tries to sneak in some work, Olivia is forced to go skiing with her family.
After a long day on the slopes, her family enjoys some apres-ski festivities, where she meets good ole boy, Lukas. His family owns a ranch in Durango and they've been here for generations. As Olivia falls trying to take off her skis, she starts to fall in love with Lukas. Later they take a ride together on the Polar Express (aka the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad) and in that moment they both know, their lives are on track.
Hallmark, if you'd like to use this idea for a movie, just let me know. Durango does seem like a great place to shoot a Hallmark movie and a great place to celebrate Christmas.
