The holiday season is officially underway in the Grand Valley. Old St. Nick arrived atop the Wells Fargo bank at 4th and Main in downtown Grand Junction at about 5:!5 p.m. Saturday evening with plenty of Christmas Cheer for all.

The crowd started to gather around 4:30 p.m.to enjoy the holiday harmonies from CMU's Mesa Out Loud who appeared for the second year in a row. They did such a great job of setting the mood and helping the spirit of the season spread throughout the crowd of families and children who sang along as they waited patiently for Santa to arrive and light the tree. Listen to Mesa Out Loud in the video below and see if you spot yourself or your kids waiting for Santa.

We want to send a big shout out to Rykel Menor who is the events coordinator for downtown Grand Junction. They did a fantastic job of setting downtown with everything from surprise guests to a food truck serving delicious hot chocolate which had folks lined up down the street for a taste. Check out the photo gallery below and then we'll move on to that magical moment and watch Santa light the tree.

Christmas Tree Lighting

No matter how old you get there is something special about waiting to see Santa. I can remember growing up in frosty Chicago going each year with my Grandpa to the local mall parking lot to watch Santa arrive by helicopter to visit with kids and hand out some of the biggest candy canes I ever saw. It was special to watch the crowds of Moms and Dads holding hands with their children waiting for Santa to arrive. Let's watch the magic that happened on Saturday below.

Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to all! We wish you good health and all the best this time of year! Thanks so much for letting our radio stations here at Townsquare Media share in this special event.
