People all over the world are familiar with John Oates, one-half of the Hall of Fame duo Hall and Oates, but people in western Colorado know all about David Starr.

David Starr is an extremely talented singer/songwriter who operates Starr's Guitars in Cedaredge and has a brand new album coming out entitled Beauty and Ruin, produced in large part by John Oates. Not only did Oates produce the album, he plays and sings on Starr's song Road To Jubilee and it's not the first time these two men have worked together. Oates was also involved on Starr's 2017 EP The Head and the Heart.

The new video for Road to Jubilee premiered this week on Billboard. The video features Starr's lead vocals accompanied by Oates, and musician Jim Lauderdale with all three sharing song-writing credits on the piece. Let me just tell you, this is good stuff.

Beauty and Ruin was recorded in Nashville at Addiction Sound Studios, owned by long-time Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain. The songs on the album are based on a 1972 novel, Of What Was, Nothing is Left,  written by Starr's grandfather, Fred Starr. The album is scheduled to be released February 21.

If the rest of the album is anything like Road to Jubilee I'm all in. And the next chance I have to hear David Starr perform I'm not gonna miss it. If you'll take four minutes and watch the Road to Jubilee it's going to be time well-spent.
