Controversial Volkswagen Commercial Features 70s Show Theme Song — What Is It?

The new Volkswagen commercial hasn't even been on the Super Bowl and 2.5-million people have already seen it. Many think it's outrageously funny, others think it's simply outrageous to have a white guy channeling what sounds like Jimmy Cliff. What got my attention though, was the familiar music that sounds a lot like the theme of a 1970's television show.

When the 'Partridge Family' debuted in 1970, the theme song used the lyrics, "When We're Singing". Sometime after the first season the producers kept the same music but rewrote the lyrics to the more familiar, "C'mon Get Happy".

The Partridge Family aired from 1970-1974 and featured Shirley Jones, David Cassidy Susan Dey and Danny Bonaduce as the primary members of a singing family patterned after the real life singing group The Cowsills.
