One of the coolest places in Colorado is Four Corners, where you can stand in four different states at the exact same time, but let's not forget about what is happening in the southeast corner of the state.

As a kid, I remember how cool it was to visit the Four Corners, in the extreme southwest corner of Colorado. Nowhere else in the nation can you be in four states at the same time.

But, there are a couple of lesser-known markers in the extreme southeast corner of the state where you can stand in Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma at the same time, and also Colorado, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

There are 38 places in the United States where three states come together, but I'm not exactly sure how many of them are actually marked.

According to, there is not much to see at the Three Corners Marker, but there is a marker where Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma come together.

The spot has been marked for nearly 150 years. Its accuracy was not certain until 1990 when it was firmly established and determined the marker was a few inches off.

The three-corner marker is actually on private land, well off any main roads. Nobody is going to find the location accidentally, you have to know what you're looking for and how to get there. Directions to the marker are provided at

As you can see from the video, there is even less to see at the Tri-State Marker. There IS a marker, but that's about all there is.

I can't say that I will be planning a vacation or road trip to either of these locations in the near future, however, the next time I happen to be in the neighborhood I'm likely to make a stop for a photo just so I can say I've been there.
