Turnovers and penalties doomed the CMU Mavericks on Saturday as they fell to Colorado School of Mines  34-7. The Mavericks((3-5, 3-3) were intercepted twice and lost 4 of 7 fumbles in seeing their two game winning streak snapped by the Orediggers in Golden.

Mines jumped to a 24-0 halftime lead. taking advantage of Maverick miscues, and getting a bit of luck on their side, recovering their own fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.

CMU running back Jake Cimolino, the leading rusher in the RMAC was held to just 24  yards on 14 carries, and the Mavericks were penalized 13 times for 102 yards.

CMU's lone score came on 62 yard pass from Deke Cisco to Turmour Battle with just over two minutes to play. Cisco entered the game in the second half, after starting quarterback Jason Haferman left the game with an apparent knee injury.

The Mavericks return home next Saturday to face conference leader CSU Pueblo in a 6pm game at Stocker Stadium.
