The story of Henny Penny and her belief the sky is falling gets a Thanksgiving twist by moving the location of the story to Plymouth Colony. But that's not all that turns this classic into holiday fun and adventure.

For some, especially in the US, Henny Penny is better known as Chicken Little. Either way, the story has been written and told since the 1800s and now the Mesa County Libraries have turned the tale into a Thanksgiving puppet show.

Those familiar with the story know that Foxy Loxy only has one thing on his mind and that is to eat Henny Penny and her friends, in this case for his Thanksgiving dinner.

The library's puppet show is a children's event but adults familiar with the story will enjoy the performance as much as the kids. After all, most of us are still kids at heart.

'Thanksgiving with Henny Penny' will be performed at the Central Library in Grand Junction November 17 through 23. Admission to the show is free.

Show dates and times are as follows:

  • Thursday, November 17 - 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 18 - 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 19 - 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, November 22 - 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday, November 23 - 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
