As the Kool 107.9 "Stuff the Bus" campaign enters its final week, we are reporting good results from our recent live remote broadcast to collect school supplies for kids in need in Mesa County School District 51.

We have teamed up this year with Western Rockies Federal Credit Union for this year's Stuff the Bus Campaign. And on Friday we did a live broadcast inviting listeners to make a donation to Stuff the Bus in exchange for a yummy sno cone.

In two hours we were able to raise $300 for the campaign, and we are grateful for all of those who were able to make a contribution.

Long-time Mesa County school teacher C.J. Shoenbeck, who taught school in Mesa County for 35 years was on hand to help serve up snow cones.

Jenny, an employee of Western Rockies wanted to run out to the parking lot in front of the credit union to retrieve a pop bottle, but was somewhat hesitant to do so in the pouring  rain. She said she would go out into the driving rain and get the bottle if I would donate $5 to Stuff the Bus. How Could I say no? Of course, to get the picture of her in the rain I had to cough up another five bucks.

School begins August 4th, so we have to wrap up the campaign on Thursday, when we will un-stuff the First Student bus that is parked inside Mesa Mall. If you have been wanting to make a contribution, now is the time to act. These school supplies will then be divided up between the schools in Mesa County School District 51, based upon the actual need at each individual school.

If you have school supplies to donate, you can drop them off at the bus inside the mall, at the KOOL Studios at 315 Kennedy Avenue, or any branch of Western Rockies Federal Credit Union in Clifton, Fruita, or North Avenue. If you would rather just make a cash donation you can do that here on our website.
