Six-Word Song Equals One #1 Smash Hit for Silver Convention

Six different words is all it took for Silver Convention to score a #1 hit song 38 years ago this week. Fly, Robin, Fly spent three weeks at #1 for this group that started out as a collaboration of studio musicians."Fly, robin, fly, up to the sky" are the only words in the entire song, which goes to prove you don't necessarily need great song writing to produce a #1 hit.

What is just as remarkable is the fact that Silver Convention had great success with another song containing only six different words.  Get Up and Boogie spent three weeks at #2 in 1976. "Get up and boogie, that's right" are the only words in the song.

As a 12 year old, I played Fly, Robin, Fly on the jukebox at Pizza Hut all the time. I'm not sure why. I think I thought the name of the group was cool, and, of course, the song just sounds cool.
