The Salvation Army continues to aid first responders battling the Black Forest Fire that erupted this week  near Colorado Springs. The fire has forced the evacuation of thousands thus far and has grown to more than 7,500 acres.

The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services teams responded to requests for assistance yesterday evening. Volunteers provided 900 meals, 750 drinks and 520 snacks to first responders of the wildfire throughout the evening. Teams will continue to serve today, expanding their efforts to begin providing food and hydration at shelter locations.

In addition to providing relief for the Black Forest Fire, The Salvation Army responded to a request to aid first responders fighting the Klinkus Fire. Volunteers from its Trinidad Service Center provided 70 meals plus snacks and hydration to fire fighters last night and are scheduled to provide assistance again today.

The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services teams are prepared to remain in all locations as long as needed.
