It is now very possible that Brock Osweiler will be the Denver Broncos starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

According to bleacherreport.com, sources within the organization are saying Osweiler will be the starting quarterback the rest of the way, regardless of whether or not Peyton Manning returns to full health.

The report indicates the Broncos are moving on from Manning at this time but want the 39-year-old quarterback to be ready to play, in the event that Osweiler begins to struggle.

At this point, there is no official word on this from the Broncos, Peyton Manning, or Brock Osweiler, and so the fact is, this may or may not actually be true.

Would the Broncos bench a healthy Peyton Manning? Would they attempt to save face by simply stating Manning isn't healthy enough to play?

And, what about Manning? If this report is true, how does the future hall-of-famer handle being a backup quarterback? Is it possible that it is simply impossible for Manning to get healthy enough in the final weeks of the season to return to the starting lineup? Has the NFL seen the last of Peyton Manning?

Clearly, if Osweiler remains the starter, and finishes the season on a positive note, it will mark the end of the Peyton Manning era, at least in Denver. Analysts have speculated about the possibility of Manning playing a couple of more  years somewhere else, but that seems highly  unlikely.

I, for one, am hoping that Manning WILL get healthy enough to return to action and show all the doubter and haters that he still has what it takes to get a team to a championship. It is also my hope that if Manning doesn't return to the starting line-up it will be because he's not healthy enough to play, and not because the Broncos just simply decided to move on. Manning deserves way more respect than that, and if would be a huge disappointment to have the Broncos disrespect him in any way.
