There was no shortage of things to do this past weekend, but a record number of teams showed up to support the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Grand Junction.

The walk, held at Long Family Memorial Park, is a major fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association in Western Colorado.  A two-mile walk is sandwiched between breakfast and the opening ceremony, and lunch after the walk.

About 90 volunteers were on hand, from young to old, to help coordinate the annual event, which brings attention to Alzheimer's Disease - affecting some 65,000 Coloradoans.

KOOL 107.9 was the radio sponsor for the 13th consecutive year, providing some great tunes for all of the walkers and volunteers. Some 40 teams, a walk record, and more than 300 people took part in the walk. Walkers of all ages did the loop, including some Alzheimer's patients who were wheeled around the route in wheel chairs.

The Alzheimer's Association reports that $34,000 was raised from the walk. There are several post-event fundraisers and they will be accepting donations through December 31.
