Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has been informed of a possible gray wolf sighting in Jackson County of Northern Colorado.

On Monday, July 8, CPW received a call from a resident of Jackson County, saying they spotted a wolf of dark color with a tracking collar.

Gray wolves have not been in Colorado since about 1940 when the last ones were killed off.

There are groups in favor of reintroducing gray wolves to Colorado, however, there has not been any action to do so.

Gray wolves have been restored to Wyoming by U.S. Fish and Wildlife, so that might be where the wolf came from.
