District 51 school start times are up for discussion again.

This time, doctors are now speaking up on this issue.

There was a story on this back in February. But now, with only a handful of days before the start of the 2016-17 school year, the Center for Disease Control makes their recommendation.

KKCO News has the complete story, but basically, the CDC is saying, through research findings, that Colorado and District 51 students are starting school too early.

Claims by pediatricians state that the earlier class schedules can lead to health problems. Lack of sleep in children that age can have an effect on the body. Being overweight, symptoms of depression, lack of physical activity which can result in unsafe behavior and choices. Drinking, smoking and illegal drug use has been listed as some of the consequences.

Recommendations are that the school start time is no earlier than 8:30 a.m.

There are so many variables to think about. The school start time affects everything. Parents' timelines, sporting events, bus schedules and so on.
