The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating the death of a man found on the canal bank near 17th Street on Sunday.

The Grand Junction Police and Fire Departments responded to a call around noon on Sunday (October 21) from a man who was walking with his two children on the north side of the canal. The caller said he spotted a person on the ground on the opposite side of the canal.

The Grand Junction Fire Department said the person was dead when they arrived on the scene. The death is under investigation with the cause of death unknown pending the completion of an autopsy by the Mesa County Coroner.
