The death of a baby in Parachute, Colo. last Saturday (June 20) is now being investigated as a homicide.

Parachute Police and the Garfield County Sheriff's department responded to an emergency call early Saturday morning of an infant in distress.

According to information released by Parachute Police Chief Cary Parmenter, the one-month-old infant was pronounced dead later that morning after being taken to Grand River Hospital in Rifle.

Parmenter reports the county coroner ruled the death a homicide but did not release any other information.

The Parachute Police Department, Garfield County Sheriffs Department, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and other agencies are working together on the investigation.
