With Spring on the horizon, thoughts are turning more and more toward outdoor activities, and for Western Colorado hunters those thoughts might include lion hunting. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission recently established an April mountain lion season that runs April 1- 30.  A total of 4 lions are available to be harvested in Mesa County during the season ,but a hunter may harvest only one lion in any of the lion seasons. Delta and Montrose Counties also have available quotas. In Mesa County, hunters may harvest either sex.

Licenses will go on sale beginning March 13th for $41, plus a $10 Habitat Stamp if it’s your first license purchase of the year. Licenses may be purchases at CPW locations, license agents, by phone, and on line at www.bit.ly/cpwlicensesales.

You can find out which Colorado hunting units have mountain lion licenses available at the Colorado Park and Wildlife website.
