The Montrose County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Montrose Police Department, MCSO High Impact Target Team, and Seventh Judicial Task Force worked together to pull off the arrest Wednesday afternoon in the 53000 block of Falcon Road, just outside of Olathe. Based on tips they received, the FBI was able to narrow down Mendoza's location and then moved in to make the arrest without incident.
The Montrose Press reports Mendoza was wanted on a warrant from the North Las Vegas Police Department, but no further details were available as the document has been sealed by Nevada courts. The FBI notified local authorities with information that Mendoza was in Montrose County.
Arrest Highlights Great Teamwork From Several Agencies
Montrose County Undersheriff George Jackson said the arrest was a great example of local and federal agencies working together to "apprehend a potentially armed and dangerous suspect who is wanted for two counts of attempted murder in another area." Jackson described the effort as "teamwork, high-paced operation, and good communication." The plan was executed to perfection as the agencies swarmed in to make the arrest and take Mendoza into custody.
Mendoza was being held in the Montrose County Detention Center without bond and awaiting extradition to Nevada.
