Colorado is now home to its first wolf litter since the 1940s. Now even more wolf pups have been spotted in Colorado's first wolf litter since the 1940s.

Just a month ago Colorado Parks and Wildlife spotted something that would make history - Colorado's very first wolf litter since the 1940s. They originally spotted three wolf pups between June 4 and June 8. The pups were seen with two other collared wolves from about two miles away.

CPW kept a safe distance and continued to monitor the wolves, as they wanted to keep an eye on them and not jeopardize their survival. We've received an update from Colorado Parks and Wildlife who says there's more.

There aren't just three wolf pups in Colorado's first world litter since the 1940s, there are six. Six wolf pups have been spotted with their breeding pair of gray wolves. The typical wolf litter is usually made up of 4-6 pups.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife doesn't reveal the location where they spotted the six wolf pups in hopes of protecting them. Colorado passed Proposition 114 in November 2020 which gave Colorado Parks and Wildlife the go to reintroduce gray wolves in Colorado.

There are mixed feelings when it comes to the reintroduction of wolves in Colorado. Some think they will destroy the elk and deer populations as well as livestock, while others think gray wolves in Colorado help maintain the ecosystem and will provide biological balance.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife has provided resources such as educational sessions, public meetings, and schools can even get a unique education opportunity about the gray wolf reintroduction process.
