It seems colder than normal today. My skin has an aversion to cold temperatures and so  I tend to notice this thing. So does it just feel that way, or as Boston sings, is it "more than a feeling?"
I have confirmed via the Old Farmer's Almanac that today is in fact the coldest November 12th that we have had for quite a while in Western Colorado. Forecasters predict a high temperature today  around 40 degrees. Last year we were enjoying 55 degrees on November 12th, and the year before that the high was 47. Prior to that we were probably wearing shorts. 67 degrees was the  the high in 2008, and 69 the high in 2009.
Turns out this is the coldest November 12th since 2006 when the high temperature in Grand Junction was just 46 degrees.

It's interesting because of the fact that October was so mild in Western Colorado, and we wondered if that was an indication that maybe we would be having an ultra mild winter. And we still might. Or it could be that we are in for the coldest winter ever. You just never know
But according to the Old Farmers Alamanac, for what it's worth, November is supposed to be bringing slightly above normal temperatures, while December brings slightly colder temperatures than normal. The Almanac also says we can expect more precipitation this winter than normal. That would be welcomed news for skiers, but not so welcomed news for us that have our snow shovels packed away - somewhere.

Of course, the almanac also said September in Western Colorado was going to be colder than normal - and I don't think that was the case. What the winter holds for us is anybody's guess.
