Are you ready for some good news? A missing Grand Junction hiker has been found safe.

Early this afternoon (May 21) the Grand Junction Police Department reported 21-year-old Marissa Leonardi has been found safe. Fortunately, this was a quick turnaround.

The Grand Junction Police Department, via their official Facebook page, reported Marissa had been missing since yesterday when she didn't check in following a hike. Although Marissa is an experienced hiker, her friends and family say it was out of character for her not to check in.

As you can imagine, those who follow the Grand Junction Police Department on Facebook replied with hopeful messages and prayers.

Perhaps most impressive, in a relatively short period of time, well under 24 hours, the original GJPD Facebook post reporting Marissa's disappearance had been shared over 1,200 times. Well done Western Colorado! You stepped up to the plate in a big way to get the word out and inform other residents.

Thank you to everyone who shared the post. We're all overdue for some good news, and this fills that role just fine.
