The Fourth of July is creeping up on us and I thought a reminder would be in order for those who might be interested in being in this year's Grand Junction parade.

The Fourth of July Parade may not be the biggest parade of the year, but it may be the most important. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your patriotism, love of country, and appreciation of freedom.

Whether you are a business, civic organization, non-profit, or political group, the Fourth of July Parade has a spot for you.

Typically, the parade features a variety of entries including a number of American veterans representing various wars. Honestly, it's difficult to watch this parade without getting emotional. I will be emceeing the parade again this year along with Cirena Gearheart from Credit Union of Colorado, the title sponsor of this year's parade. If you are there, you may hear me get a little choked up.

If you want to be in the parade, you need to get your entry in by June 19, although registrations could close sooner if they reach capacity. Parade entry registration is available online. The entry fee is $50 and there will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in various categories like Business, Performance, Organizations, Youth, and Media.

The annual parade starts at 10:00am on July 4 on Main Street.
