Western Colorado fans of the band Kansas will get their first look at the band's new lead singer when Kansas hits the Avalon Theatre stage on Thursday, July 28.

When long-time lead singer  Steve Walsh retired in mid-2014, Kansas fans wondered what would become of the band. They still had original guitarist Rich Williams and drummer, Phil Ehart, along with long-time members David Ragsdale and Billy Greer, but how would it be without Walsh.

Never fear. Enter Ronnie Platt, who started singing with the band in September of 2014 and the band never skipped a beat. In fact, Kansas is releasing a brand new album in September entitled "Prelude Implicit."

Kansas is one of the more sought-after classic rock bands, doing 90-100 shows each year. "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind" are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Kansas hits they deliver in concert.

Ronnie Platt brings killer vocals and plenty of experience to the stage after performing with the Chicago-based classic rock cover band ARRA, as well as fronting Shooting Star out of Kansas City.

In case you're wondering about the chops on this new cat, Ronnie Platt, check out his amazing vocals on the classic Kansas hit "Dust in the Wind." I think you will see that Kansas fans have nothing to worry about it.

Tickets for the July 28 show in Grand Junction are on sale now through Monumental Events. Ticket prices range from $34 to $69.
