Colorado is a state that loves to be outdoors. In Grand Junction, one of our favorite venues is the Amp at Las Colonias. August is going to be a busy month for the Amp with artists like Jo Dee Messina, Darius Rucker, The Dead South, and The Infamous Stringdusters showing up for some late summer fun.
For those who have never been to a concert at Las Colonias, a clear bag policy is in place for all concerts. Read the specifics here. Guests on the lawn can bring 1 lawn chair each (subject to a security check).
Colorado's Legendary Outdoor Venues
If you are interested in an August road trip, Colorado is a great state for music venues. Outdoor concert venues that belong on your Colorado bucket list include:
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater: Morrison, Colorado. The venue has won several awards, many for its natural acoustics. The venue has hosted countless legendary acts, including The Beatles in 1964. It's the most profitable, most attended outdoor venue on Earth.
Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater: Vail, Colorado. This mountain top venue has been ranked top five in the nation on several occasions since it opened in 1987. It has a covered pavilion, lawn seats, and close-up mountain views.
Dillon Amphitheater in Dillon, Colorado: This lakeside venue is another one of Colorado's best, constantly earning mentions as one of the top outdoor venues in the Rocky Mountains.
Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre: Greenwood Village, Colorado. The 18,000-seat venue is the largest outdoor amphitheater in the Denver metro. You can find fixed seats, lawn seating, and a view of the mountains west of the city.
Levitt Pavilion Denver: Denver, Colorado. If you are looking for a free concert, the next time you are in Denver, look up the Levitt Pavilion. It holds about 6,500 guests and hosts the city's free summer concert series.
