Friday night was a busy night for high School Football on the Western Slope! All of the local team had games on Friday (September 21, 2012) with Central's Homecoming Game happening under the Friday Night Light at Stocker Stadium. All other teams were on the road.

The Central Warriors were hosting the Green Mountain Rams from Lakewood for their Homecoming game for 2012. The Warriors held the undefeated Rams to just two field goals in the first half and lead the entire half 7 to 6. During halftime the Homecoming court was presented and the King and Queen were crowned. The Rams came out in the second half and were spoilers for Homecoming, with the Rams winning 21 to 14.  The Game was broadcasted on 95.1 , 95 Rock as the game of the week.

The Palisade Bulldogs remained undefeated with a trip to Edwards, CO to play the Battle Mountain Huskies. Palisade came out on fire and blew out the Huskies in the first half, keeping Battle Mountain scoreless the entire game. The Bulldogs won 45 to nothing to make their record 4-0 for the season.

The Grand Junction Tigers were on the road in Westminster to play the Mountain Range Mustangs. It was a close game in the first half but the Tigers came out strong in the fourth quarter to seal a win with a final score of 28 to 14. The Tigers lead by one at the end of the third quarter with a safety giving them the lead. Grand Junction held the Mustangs scoreless in the fourth quarter while putting 13 points on the board to set their record at 4-1 in the non-conference win. GJHS is having homecoming next weekend at Stocker.

Fruita Monument was another team on the road as they traveled to Highlands Ranch to play the Falcons. Fruita Monument's bad season remained bad as the Wildcats lost 15 to 7, falling to a record of 1-4. Fruita is also playing at Stocker next weekend.

The Delta Panthers traveled to Craig to play the Moffat County Bulldogs. Delta improved their record to 3-1 with a win of 21-14. The Panthers are home next weekend to host Glenwood Springs.

Montrose was traveling this weekend, heading to the front range to play the Hinkley Thunderbirds of Aurora. Although the Thunderbirds were the home team, I am not sure that they showed up to the game. Montrose's offense just exploded putting 60 points on the board while the defense kept Hinkley scoreless. The non-conference win of 60 to 0 was the biggest win of the weekend. Montrose is still on the road next weekend heading to Louisville to play the Monarch Coyotes.

Be sure to head to Stocker stadium for the Friday Night Lights game of the week and the GJHS Tigers hold their Homecoming Court while hosting The FMHS Wildcats in the Battle of the Kitties. The game can be heard on 95 ROCK at 95.1 or online at www.95rockfm.com. You can also catch all of the action on your smartphone by downloading the RadioPuP app so you don't miss a minute of the game.
