It is always a wonderful thing when  you are privileged do something you really enjoy. It's a huge bonus to be honored and recognized for your achievement and progress. A large group of ladies from the Grand Valley have done just exactly that. The Grand Mesa Chorus brought home second place honors in the small chorus division at the the Rocky Mountain Region 8 Annual Convention and Competition in Colorado Springs   The Western Colorado group also took the 4th place chorus medal, the most improved chorus plaque and ribbon, and the Showmanship plaque with the most improved choreography.

The traditional barbershop songs delivered by the chorus were "Lulu's Back In Town", and "There's a Bandstand In Central Park."n Central Park”. Ten choruses and seventeen quartets competed with two songs each, before an audience filled with Sweet Adelines, their families, friends and judges from Washington, Ohio, Texas and Canada.

Two quartets from Grand Mesa Chorus also competed in the quartets competition. Elixir Quartet and Cover Charge Quartet both scored very well, with Cover Charge bringing home the Novice Quartet Award with their rendition of “Hey Daddy” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight."

Janice Frame, bass singer and 21 year Sweet Adelines member said,  “We made a plan and did it! I felt that we were all on the same page. We told the story together. What an experience!”

Grand Mesa Chorus is directed by Tammy Schler, who is a Sweet Adelines International Certified Director.

We say congratulations to these ladies for their efforts and for representing the Grand Valley in such a stellar manner. The Grand Mesa Chorus rehearses each Tuesday evening at the Redlands United Methodist Church. All women are welcome to come for an audition.
