One of the annual rites of bicycling and a great way to start the month of May, is the Grand Junction Rose Hill Rally, a fun cycling event for the whole family.

2015 marks the 19th anniversary of this popular ride which brings hundreds of bicycle enthusiasts and recreational riders from Grand Junction and beyond together to enjoy either a 50k (31 mile) or 100k (62 mile) ride on May 3 to benefit the Rose Hill Hospitality House.

The ride is a fitness event with the 50k route designed to be an enjoyable ride for recreational riders. The 100k route gives bicycle enthusiasts a good ride without being overly intimidating or strenuous.

The Rose Hill Rally is fully supported with a light breakfast, rest stops with refreshments, bike mechanics, medical personnel and sag wagons along both routes. After the ride, cyclists are treated to a hearty lunch and can relax while enjoying the sounds of KOOL 107.9.

Pre-registering for the ride by April 24 is both the easiest and least expensive. Adults are $35 and children 12-years-old and under are $20.

Groups or organizations who want to team up for the event should register by April 17. Participants can also register the day of the event, but will not receive the commemorative t-shirt.

For those who wonder if I am riding in this year's event, the answer is yes, but only the 50k. That's the course best suited to my riding ability and gives me just the right amount of pedal time to enjoy lunch and the fun of awarding door prizes after the ride.
