There is no question that 2020 has been a difficult year for many people, including many Coloradans. The pandemic has made this year a disaster and many families struggling to pay for basic needs. Colorado Governor Jared Polis is attempting to help those that are struggling by working on a statewide eviction moratorium that would ban late fees for all people in Colorado renting their homes through the end of the 2020 calendar year.

We got the details from The Denver Channel, regarding the details. Governor Polis put together an executive order which came out after the 17-page report by the Special Eviction Prevention Task Force. The Colorado governor said this is all to address the housing instability crisis that was caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control issued a nationwide eviction moratorium six weeks ago that applies almost all renters in the United States, so this order put in by Governor Polis is just reinforcing those same efforts. The task force unanimously recommended that all landlords must let their tenants know of their rights under this new order.

Hopefully, this brings some relief to families across our state that are struggling to pay their bills after this difficult year that we all have been working through. While not having late fees might seem like a small thing, it can really stack up quickly.

One thing that all Coloradans can agree on is that we all will be excited once this whole coronavirus pandemic is behind us, although at this point it is anyone's guess on when that will be.
