Christmas isn't the next holiday on the calendar, but it sure feels like it.

Is anybody thinking about Christmas besides me? It's not that I want to, it just feels like I have no choice.

Christmas shopping is one thing I typically don't do in September, and definitely not during the rest of the summer months.  I can't even begin to think about Christmas shopping until at least November. But, am I alone?

The other day I posed the question on Facebook to see if anyone is thinking about the holiday season and getting some of those Chrismas presents wrapped and stowed away. Most everybody who responded to my question has already started. In fact, some started shopping last December for this year.

Let me be clear. I have no issue with people who start their Christmas shopping early. It's just that I'm not one of them, and, likely, never will be.

There's no question that people in the same boat as Wendy, who are making Christmas gifts, you absolutely need to start early.

Of course, not everyone is so keen on moving forward with jingling bells, pretty paper, and, Rudolph's red nose.

Yes, Squeeker, there is the matter of Halloween. And then, of course, we do have that pumpkin pie holiday coming up as well. And, the calendar does say it's still summer.

Christmas shopping in September may be rushing things just a bit, but, given the social atmosphere of the nation, a little extra Christmas cheer and wishes for peace on Earth goodwill to men might not be such a bad thing.
