A young girl was tragically killed this morning (Thursday, March 3, 2022) after being accidentally run over by a school bus in Parachute, Colorado.

The incident occurred early this morning around 7:30 am as a young girl was heading to her school bus to take her to her Parachute, Colorado school. Unfortunately and tragically, the young girl, who was 11 years of age at the time of the accident, tripped and fell underneath one of the school bus' tires.

It has been said that the wheels of the school bus were moving at the time that the young girl tripped and fell under them, which prompted a call to local police. However, when authorities had arrived at where the incident occurred, the young girl had tragically already succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Help From Numerous Emergency Services in Parachute

Following the incident, authorities hurried to the scene to try to help the girl. These included Parachute Police, Grand Valley Fire, as well as deputies from the Garfield County Sheriff's Department. However, by the time that crews arrived, the girl had already tragically passed away.

What's Next?

The name of the 11-year-old girl that passed away has not yet been released. In addition, the incident appears to be a tragic accident so, on the surface, it's unlikely that much more investigation will need to be completed as it would appear that the driver will not face any charges for the accident.

However, the investigation remains ongoing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
