Before 2020, we didn't have a lot of "drive-thru" experiences but with all of the social distancing we did in 2020, we learned that some of these drive-thru events were actually pretty cool! One of those events is the Winter Wonderland in Fort Collins and it's back for 2021!

My family and I were doing our best to stay at home as much as possible last holiday season and when we did go out, we liked to be able to stay away from people! You know you did too! My wife stumbled across this Winter Wonderland drive-thru Christmas Lights event in Fort Collins so we got our ticket and headed up for the fun. The event is powered and put on by Colorado Youth Outdoors and is held at their very large, 220-acre outdoor recreation and education facility in Fort Collins, just off of County Road 5 and Kechter road.

You and the fam stop at the coffee shop or gas station, get some Hot Cocoa, some snacks, and roll through all of the extremely cool Christmas Light Displays! They have a special radio station just for the event that you turn on while driving through to get you in the holiday spirit! The Light Display road is about a mile long and it took us about 15 minutes to drive through. When we went we were the only ones that late at night so we cruised through rather quickly.

You can make your reservation and get your tickets while they're available HERE or by going directly to their website for more information! Tickets start at about $20 per carload and it's absolutely worth it. Enjoy the lights and Merry Christmas!

Grand Junction Christmas Light Displays of the 1940s

These decorations don't compare to the magnificent blue light display you'll see in the neighborhood in the northwest part of town. It was a different time. Even at that, there's something heartwarming about these 1948 decorations.

These are the best of the best of 1948. I regret I don't know which house placed first, second, etc. In the end, it doesn't matter. They're all great. Take a look at the gallery. Who knows? You might see a house you recognize. For that matter, you might see someone you recognize.

Light Up the Grand Valley 2020 Entrants: All the Light Up the Grand Valley Entries for 2020

During the 2020 holiday season, we asked our audience to show us their Christmas decorations. We received some great photos from the area's best-decorated houses.

The first photo in the gallery was our 2020 winner, who received $500. We're running the contest again this year, so stay tuned for more details.
