Colorado Rivers Claim Two Lives Over The Holiday Weekend
Two people died while floating and rafting over the weekend.
The Colorado river-related death toll rises to 11 after two men were killed in two separate incidents on Friday. One man lost his life when the raft he was in overturned on the Arkansas River. He was riding with four others. Nearby kayakers were able to rescue the four other rafters, unfortunately, the other man was carried downstream and drowned.
The year's record-setting snowpack is melting and turning Colorado rivers into raging torrents. The fast-moving white water is offering thrills, but, it's also created some very dangerous conditions that are injuring some and sadly claiming lives.
A front range resident drowned Friday while tubing the Poudre River. He was with a group of eight others that all had to be pulled from the river. The victim was later found in a tree along the river.
