A nursing home in Colorado has set up something new in order to allow their residents to finally have physical contact. Take a look at their hug tent.

We can't imagine what it'd be like to go eight months without any physical contact. That's unfortunately what many people have had to do due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to CBS4, the hug tent at Hover Green Houses senior living community was set up by TRU Community Care. Residents of the nursing home are on one side of the hug tent and their loved ones are on the other, while they're separated by a tent made up of plastic sheets.

Both residents and their loved ones can stick their arms through plastic tubes to allow them to safely hug each other. According to CBS4, these are the precautions they take between each visit:

  • Both residents and their loved ones wear gloves that they throw away after each visit
  • They put disinfectant on both sides of the tent after each visit
  • The disinfectant sits on the plastic tent for 5 minutes before being wiped off

The hug tent only costs approximately $400 to create, which we think is really cheap for something so priceless. Many of the people who got to use the hug tent are so grateful for this and say that you can see the happiness on their faces because of the tent, according to CBS4.

Talking on the phone is great, Facetiming is great, but nothing compares to actual physical touch. We have to adjust to life with COVID and we think this is a fantastic way to adapt.
