Have You Seen Colorado’s Marshall Fire Aftermath? These Photos Are Heartbreaking

We all saw it on the news as it was happening, but I don't think any of us expected the sight we'd see as the sun would rise over the affected communities in Superior and Louisville, Colorado, on New Year's Eve. Incredibly heartbreaking.

Being glued to the TV in the studio on Thursday afternoon and evening, watching cities in my home state literally going up in flames, and feeling completely helpless is something I'll never forget. The hurricane-like winds in Colorado on Thursday helped create the most destructive fire in our state's history. Even though we all watched, knowing the aftermath would be devastating, I'm not sure any of us were prepared for what we'd see after the sun came back up the very next morning. My friend Casey, who was working clean up on Friday morning, sent me some pictures to share with you of the aftermath of just one of the many affected neighborhoods involved in the Marshall Fire last week.

The Marshall Fire burned more than 6,000 acres and took more than 1,000 homes and structures. Sadly, it claimed 2 lives but that number could have been much higher so huge kudos to local first responders for getting out and letting people know they needed to evacuate immediately. A fire with a destruction path as large as this one, to come away with only two deaths is truly unbelievable. The first responders and other crews involved in the process of keeping people safe in a moment of pure panic did the absolute best job possible so to them we all should say thank you.

As mentioned HERE, what originally was believed to be a fire started by downed power lines, is now being investigated by the FBI. A warrant has been issued on a Boulder County property where a barn fire may have been the cause of the wildfire.
