If you just so happened to decide to take your dog for a walk in Golden over the weekend, you may have been in for an adorable surprise as thousands of the popular dog breed gathered together with their humans this past Saturday.

Part of National Golden Retriever Day

National Golden Retriever Day is celebrated each year on February 3rd, and the Goldens in Golden celebration appropriately takes place in the mountain town on the Saturday closest to the holiday.

How Many Dogs?

It was estimated that roughly 3000 golden retrievers were in attendance at this past weekend's celebration, which took place down Washington Street near the Golden Visitors Center along with surrounding areas, including the 'Welcome to Golden' sign.

Largest in the World

While similar celebrations take place in Scotland and Los Angeles, attendees at the Goldens in Golden event claim that Colorado's gathering is the largest in the world.

Goldens of All Ages

Golden retrievers and their humans gather from all over the state of Colorado to mingle with other full-grown goldens, puppies, seniors, and dogs from every age group in between.

Not Just Goldens

While the majority of the dogs that attended the event were, in fact, golden retrievers, there were also other types of dogs having just as much fun as their golden cousins.
