Do I Need A Fishing License to Fish in Colorado?

In order to legally fish in the state of Colorado, you'll need to obtain a fishing license, unless it just so happens to be free fishing weekend.

How and Where Can I Get A Fishing License in Colorado?

You can purchase a fishing license in Colorado by visiting any Colorado Parks and Wildlife office. There are also over 600 sales agents across the state. You can search for a sales agent by name, city, and/or zip code by following this link.

Fishing licenses for Colorado are also available online or you can even purchase a license by phone by calling 1-800-244-5613. 

How Much is A Fishing License in Colorado?

If you are a resident of Colorado, then an annual fishing license will cost $36.71.  A 2022 annual fishing license is valid through March 31, 2023.

1-day fishing licenses are also available to Colorado residents for $14.46.

If you are not a resident of Colorado, an annual fishing license will cost you $102.40. The price for a 1-day fishing license for a non-resident is $17.64.

Please keep in mind that the "purchase of a $10.59 Habitat Stamp is also required with the purchase of the first hunting or fishing license of the ​season."

When is the 2022 Free Fishing Weekend in Colorado?

This year free fishing weekend is happening June 4-5 according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. While you may not have to pay to fish during free fishing weekend in Colorado, that doesn't mean that the rest of the rules fly out the window.
