Everything is clicking for the CMU baseball Mavericks this season. With two weekends left in the regular season, the Mavericks have already clinched the RMAC regular season title, for the second consecutive year, and the 6th time in the last 8 years. This week they moved up to #3 in the national rankings, and, now the Mavericks sit at #1 in the first Central Region Rankings of the season.

The Mavericks are 34-6 overall, and 28-2 in the RMAC. They will host the RMAC Tournament at Suplizio Field beginning May 8th, and if they maintain the #1 ranking in the region, they would host the Central Region tournament as well. What are the chances? At this point, the chances are good.

The Mavericks have a 34-6 record in the region. The second ranked team, Texas A & M Kingville is 21-15, the third ranked team, Angelo State is 27-14, and the fourth ranked team, St. Mary's of Texas owns a record of 32-12. St. Cloud is ranked #5 at 23-5. They look like the biggest threat to the Mavericks #1 position.

The Mavericks control their own destiny. If they continue their winning ways, that #1 ranking won't change. But there's plenty of baseball left to be played, and it's  not going to be an easy road. This weekend the Mavericks host Regis, the defending RMAC Tournament Champions. The Rangers are a solid baseball team, sitting in second place in the Mountain Division of the RMAC and a team the Mavericks will see again in the RMAC tournament. The Mavericks will close out the regular season at home against Colorado Mines - one of only two conference teams to beat the Mavericks this season.

Friday night's game at Suplizio Field is Little League Family Night and Record Attendance night. The Rockies mascot, Dinger the Dinosaur, will be making a special appearance at the game, and some other special things have been planned as well to make it a fun night at the ball park.

Game time is 6:05 on Friday. If you can't make it to the game, you can hear it on the radio on AM 1230 KEXO, and on-line at www.kexo1230.com.
