City Market and King Soopers are taking over the Salvation Army Red Kettles today in the largest red kettle takeover in the nation. Employees of the large super market change are volunteering their time between 3pm and 7pm today (Dec 11) to ring the bells and assist in the Salvation Army fundraising campaign.

All Mesa County City Market locations are joining in the effort. The Salvation Army's Major Dan Wilson is appreciative of the local support saying "their support has allowed us to be there for the community in so many incredible ways over the years."

While City Market has it's day today to ring the bells for the campaign, KOOL 107.9 and Townsquare Media Grand Junction will take their turn on Thursday. Employees from all five Townsquare stations will be stationed at Mesa County City Markets from 11am-1pm to ring the bells and ask listeners for their support.

It's a competition between the stations to see which one can take in the most donations in a two hour period. MIX 104.3 and ESPN Radio 1230 will be at the 24 Road location, 99.9 KEKB will be in Fruita, 95 Rock at the Clifton store, and KOOL 107.9 will be at 1st and Rood.

Ed Chandler and I will be at 1st and Rood with a warm beverage in one hand and a bell in the other inviting out listeners to help us beat the competition, and to raise funds for our local Salvation Army. We would love to see you stop by and help our cause!
