JUCO World Series: Changes Made In Security Procedures
For all the baseball fans out there who are planning to attend this year’s Alpine Bank Junior College World Series, you will need to know of some upcoming changes.
According to JUCO Chairman Jamie Hamilton, changes are being made in security to ensure that fans attending the tournament are safe.
The security changes will be seen primarily at the stadium entrances of Suplizio Field. Officials hope the changes will also help expedite entrance into the stadium.
Here’s what to expect upon arriving at Suplizio Field – gates on both sides of the turnstiles at the main (south) entrance will be used to allow access into the stadium. Both gates will be used to alleviate congestion at the gate.
Fans with reserved seats and those purchasing single-game tickets will enter through the gate to the right (baseball side) of the turnstiles. Fans with general admission tournament punch passes will enter through the gate to the left (football side) of the turnstiles. In order to avoid any confusion, posted signs will help direct fans to the correct gates.
Ticket takers will check contents of coolers, backpacks and bags of fans entering the stadium. Checking contents of coolers, backpacks, and bags will occur at the main (south) entrance, the north gate and the entrance to the left-field bleachers.
Fans are welcome to bring their own food and beverages to the tournament, and they may bring in a personal-sized cooler. Bags and coolers will be checked for any banned items such as alcohol, which is not allowed at the stadium during JUCO.
Gates open 90 minutes before the first game each day, and fans are asked to arrive early to help avoid long lines at the gate.
The JUCO World Series begins at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, (May 25) at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction and will run through Saturday, June 1.
