Driver Ticketed for Going 115 mph on Colorado’s I-25 Gap Near Castle Rock
Pretty much any stretch on Colorado's Interstate 25 you are going to encounter a handful of drivers going well over the speed limit. It's almost like Interstate 25 is known for speeding.
However, the Colorado State Patrol will eventually catch those that are well in excess of the posted speed limit. Sometimes they're known to share the encounter on social media too.
One driver near Castle Rock was in quite the hurry being clocked at 115 mph... Until they were pulled over by Castle Rock's Colorado State Patrol. Castle Rock CSP brought some sass with their Twitter post on Monday morning stating "I-25 through the GAP is not the place to channel your inner Ricky Bobby because you wanna go fast".
The image shared along with the post on Twitter shows the radar reading 115 mph. The driver's high-speed antics have resulted in a summons for speeding and reckless driving.
It is unclear as to what the posted speed limit currently is in the area where the driver was clocked with excessive speeds on the South Gap project on Interstate 25. We do know that the driver was doing at least 25 mph over the speed limit.
According to Colorado's General Assembly site that outlines penalties for speeding violations, the driver could face:
25 MPH or Over the Speed Limit - Class 2 Misdemeanor
- Fine minimum $150 to a maximum of $300.
- Possible jail time - minimum 10 days to a maximum of 90 days.
25 MPH or Over the Speed Limit in a Construction Zone - Class 1 Misdemeanor
- Fine minimum $300 to a maximum of $1,000.
- Possible jail time - minimum 10 days to a maximum of 1 year.
