Smash and Grab Thefts Ruin Trail Users’ Fun

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of thieves breaking windows out of vehicles parked at local trailheads and stealing valuables.

Mesa County Sheriff's Office reports the two most recent smash and grab thefts happened at the Spanish Trailhead and in the parking lot on D road by the Clifton Sewer facility.

The Sheriff's Office suggests if you're hiking, biking, or boating to leave valuables at home, taking them with you, or if you have to leave things in your vehicle, make sure they are secure and hidden from view.

Also, if you notice anything suspicious at the trailhead parking lots or along the trail, report it to the the Sheriff's Office or the Grand Junction Police Department.
