Some unknown circumstances led to a multi-vehicle accident at 7th street and North Avenue in Grand Junction this afternoon (June 6).

According to the Grand Junction Police Department and KKCO 11 News, a total of six people were injured, two critically in the accident that occurred shortly after 1 p.m.

The two critically injured people were taken to the hospital, the others either received treatment at the scene or refused treatment from medical personnel.

The exact cause of the accident is unknown, but police are investigating. The intersection was completely closed for more than an hour with partial closures continuing until approximately 5 p.m. while police conducted their investigation.
