Seattle's home-town girl, Heart lead singer Ann Wilson was tabbed to sing the national anthem prior to the NFC Championship game. It was great rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner - until the end.

She was going great, and showing us that at age 63 she still has amazing pipes. But, then on the "free" note, she attempted something she may be regretting.  Instead of singing it straight, she went for some out-of-the-stratsophere note - but never reached it. Once she missed it, she tried to recover by bringing it down with a little run to make it look like that's what she intended to to in the first place.

The fans on Twitter were not kind.
Jeff said..."Know how if you give a baby some wrapping paper it will tear it up, mangle it, annihilate it. That's what Ann Wilson just did to the anthem."

Chris tweeted....."The 2 worst branding decisions in Seattle last night both born of ego: Sherman's rant & Ann Wilson going for the high note."

Monsta tweeted.."Between Ann Wilson's rendition of the National anthem and Pam Oliver's hair. It's been a ugly start to the NFC Championship game."

We have at admit, Ann's decision to go for the extreme high note was probably not her best judgment, and yes, it turned out badly. However, the fact remains, Ann Wilson is still a great singer with an incredible voice, and except for that one hiccup, her rendition of the national anthem was smokin' hot.
